Coober Pedy opal is one of the amazing variations of Australian opals and this one is unique. It’s 5.5 carats, 1-1/16″ in length and has multi-colored fire flashing within. This is a solid 5.5 carat stone, not a doublet or triplet, which is only a thin slice of opal overlayed on a backing. Opals that are flintknapped are always solid gemstones. It’s not likely you’ll ever find a flintknapped opal like this in a jewelry store, or that you’ll tire of looking at it.
