Petrified wood from the Holbrook, AZ area is an increasingly difficult material to obtain. But it’s worth the effort when you can find a piece like this. It’s characterized by beautiful colors, banding and gorgeous translucency. It’s also unfortunately characterized by lots of cracks! So when I had a chance to bid on this piece, I had to have it. After the proper heat treating to maximize its workability, I knapped this elegant 3.5″ point, which could be a showpiece exemplifying classic Arizona petrified wood.
